3 Things to Do In Seattle

pike place fish marketSeattle is Washington State’s most populated city and is located on the Puget Sound and is centered around water, mountains, park-lands and a dense forest.  Seattle is home to over 550,000 residents and is the northern most populated city in the Northern Hemisphere.  An oceanic climate makes for cold and wet winters with a somewhat dry, cool summer.  Seattle is a favorite for tourists to visit throughout the year because of the city life and it’s worldly attractions.  Here is a short list of things you should do while spending time in Seattle.

Space Needle

The space needle is an icon of Seattle and the most popular landmark in the Northwest.  The observation tower was built in 1962 and has drawn over 2.3 million visitors.  You can take the elevator to the top of the needle to a 360 degree observation deck that overlooks all of Seattle and the Puget Sound at 520ft above ground.  Just below the deck is a revolving restaurant known as SkyCity, which is was named 2009 Restaurant of the Year by Washington Wine Committee, and “Best View” by Where Magazine’s Visitors Choice Dining Awards.

Pike Place Fish Market

If you have a thing for flying fish, then you need to spend some time at Pike Place Fish Market. This world famous fish market is located in the heart of the pike place market and sits right off of Elliot Bay.  If you’re hungry, you can get some of the best seafood as they are known for fresh wild Alaskan king Salmon, wild Alaskan Halibut, Alaskan king crab legs, and whole cooked dungeness crab.

Be The 12th Man

Seattle is known for their professional sports teams; The Seattle Mariners in baseball and the Seattle Seahawks in football.  While catching a baseball game at SafeCo field is fun, nothing compares to the fan experience at CenturyLink Field.  You can be apart of the 12th man, as the fans are considered some of the loudest, craziest, die hard football fans in the entire NFL.  Go ahead and paint your face, spray paint your hair and rev up those vocal cords for 4 hours of entertainment and a football game that you will never forget.

Honorable Mention

Seattle is also known for it’s festivals, events and concerts that are held at many of the large parks and landmarks.  You can check out the rest of the 2017 festival calendar here https://www.visitseattle.org/things-to-do/events/festivals/
